The Voyageur Multi-Use Trail System will hold its 2026 Fall Rally in Mattawa, Ontario on October 2 and 3, combining a Friday evening fun run with a full Saturday rally, trail food stops, dinner, a poker hand and cash prizes.
The event starts Friday afternoon at the Mattawa Legion, where registration is scheduled from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The evening fun run leaves the Legion at 6:30 p.m., followed by a bonfire at the campsite on Trail 15.
Saturday brings the main rally program.
Friday starts with registration and a night run
VMUTS says Friday registration will run from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Mattawa Legion.
The evening fun run is scheduled to leave at 6:30 p.m.
For riders arriving with trucks and trailers, the organizer says additional parking is available at Mike Rodden Arena if required.
The Friday program then moves onto the trail system before a bonfire at the Trail 15 campsite.
That makes the first evening more than a check-in period. It gives participants a shorter ride before the longer Saturday program.
Saturday is the main rally day
Participants who did not register Friday can complete registration Saturday between 8:30 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. at the Legion.
Breakfast will be available for purchase before riders leave.
VMUTS says food will also be available on the trail at the junction of Trails 70 and 19, with hot dogs, sausages and hamburgers listed for the lunch stop.
The route then brings participants back to the Mattawa Legion for a turkey dinner, poker hand and prizes.
The rally format gives riders several different reasons to participate: trail time, a social weekend, food stops and the competitive element of the poker hand.
Entry fees include both days
VMUTS lists the driver entry fee at $75 plus HST and the passenger fee at $45 plus HST.
The entry package includes the Friday night run as well as Saturday’s dinner, rally and poker hand.
Cash prizes are listed at $500 for first place, $250 for second and $150 for third.
Participants should complete registration through the organizer’s current rally page and read the vehicle and permit requirements before arriving.
Trail permits are required
VMUTS is a multi-use trail system, so the event is not limited to a single type of off-road vehicle.
The organizer says ATVs and side-by-sides require a valid OFATV permit.
Other trail users, including trucks and dirt bikes, require a VMUTS Multi-Use Permit.
That distinction is important because paying the rally entry fee does not replace the trail permit required for the vehicle being used.
Riders should make sure both their event registration and their applicable trail access are in order before the weekend.
Mattawa’s trail system is the attraction
The Voyageur Multi-Use Trail System says it has more than 300 kilometres of trails, with connections into a much larger regional network.
The terrain around Mattawa is one of the main reasons the rally works as a destination event.
VMUTS describes its system as old forest-covered logging roads with river and stream crossings, bridges, culverts and routes suited to different experience levels.
That variety allows the organization to build a rally around the trail network itself rather than around a single parking lot or short demonstration loop.
For riders travelling from outside the area, the weekend can therefore function as both an organized event and an introduction to the Mattawa trail system.
A community event built around access
Events like the Fall Rally also show how much off-road recreation depends on local organizations.
Trail signage, bridge work, maintenance, permits, land relationships and volunteer time all sit behind the riding experience.
VMUTS operates as a not-for-profit trail organization and has continued to recruit volunteers and support for trail infrastructure projects.
A rally brings riders onto that system in a structured way while generating activity for the local community.
