Zero Motorcycles says Level 3 DC fast charging is coming to its street and dual-sport motorcycles beginning in 2027, with a retrofit path also being developed for a range of existing Cypher III-equipped models.
The September 3 announcement is significant because charging time remains one of the clearest differences between electric motorcycles and gasoline motorcycles in everyday ownership. Zero says its planned CCS-based system is expected to move compatible motorcycles from 20% to 80% state of charge in less than 30 minutes.
For Canadian riders, the technology could make electric motorcycles more practical for longer-distance travel — but only where compatible fast-charging infrastructure, pricing and model availability line up.
What Zero announced
The planned system combines a CCS charging port with a DC fast-charging module for Zero’s Street and Dual Sport lineup.
Zero says motorcycles with battery capacities up to 17.3 kWh are expected to charge from 20% to 80% in under 30 minutes.
The company is targeting new motorcycles beginning in 2027 and is also engineering the hardware as an accessory for compatible 2022-and-newer motorcycles using the Cypher III operating system.

Electric-vehicle charging is rarely discussed in terms of a complete zero-to-100% fill because batteries typically accept their highest charging rates through the middle of the state-of-charge range.
