Bridgestone Sets January Launch for New Battlax Adventure A42

Bridgestone has announced the Battlax Adventure A42, a new road-focused adventure-touring motorcycle tire scheduled to begin worldwide rollout on January 1, 2027.

The A42 succeeds the Battlax Adventure A41 and is aimed at riders who spend most of their time on pavement but still want the upright comfort and long-distance capability associated with modern adventure motorcycles.

Bridgestone says the new tire improves wet-weather traction, wear life and noise levels without giving up the stable road manners expected from the Adventure line.

The company’s internal testing shows a 14 per cent reduction in tire slip ratio during straight-line wet acceleration compared with the A41. Bridgestone also reports an 18 per cent improvement in front-tire wear life and a 25 per cent improvement at the rear.

Tire noise is claimed to be 15 per cent lower than the previous model, a change aimed at improving comfort during long highway rides.

The technical changes start with new compounds. Bridgestone says the front uses a flexible polymer intended to improve how the tire follows the road surface, while the rear uses a polymer selected to improve wear resistance.

Silica and carbon content are tuned separately for the front and rear in an effort to balance wet grip with durability.

The tread pattern is also new. Bridgestone has incorporated its Pulse Groove water-drainage technology and revised the groove layout to manage block stiffness.

That combination is designed to evacuate water while keeping the contact patch stable under braking, cornering and acceleration.

For Canadian riders, the wet-performance claim is particularly relevant because shoulder-season touring can involve large temperature swings and sudden rain. The actual benefit still depends on correct pressures, suspension condition, load, temperature and pavement.

The January global rollout does not automatically establish Canadian warehouse availability on day one. Local distributors, dealers and fitment databases will determine when specific sizes become orderable in Canada.

Bridgestone says the A42 will launch first in six sizes, covering common modern adventure-touring fitments.

Riders considering the new tire should confirm the exact front and rear size, speed rating and load specification required by the motorcycle manufacturer rather than assuming that a similar-looking adventure tire is interchangeable.

For dealers, the A42 creates a straightforward replacement-cycle conversation. The important comparison is not only purchase price, but also wet performance, expected mileage, road noise and the type of riding the customer actually does.

An owner who spends nearly all of the season on pavement may value the A42 differently from a rider who regularly uses gravel, mud or deeper off-road terrain.

The A42’s launch is therefore less about aggressive adventure styling and more about refining road-touring performance for motorcycles that happen to wear adventure-bike bodywork.

Bridgestone’s published improvements are manufacturer test claims until riders and independent testers accumulate real-world mileage, but the January 2027 launch gives the adventure-touring market a clear new replacement option heading into the next riding season.
