Neave converts the lead into a world title

Tim Neave has clinched the 2026 FIM Flat Track World Championship after the tenth and final round at Totoras, Argentina. The British rider arrived at Sunday’s oval needing only one point and secured the crown through his heat-race performance before the main Final. The result makes Neave Great Britain’s first FIM Flat Track world champion. Juan José Coduri won the concluding Final for Argentina, while Jack Bell completed the season with the silver medal and 2022 champion Gerard Bailo took bronze.

The title was settled before the Final

Neave’s advantage meant he did not need to win the last race. His victory in the third block of heats guaranteed a place in the top twenty and supplied the point required to put the championship beyond Bell. That changed his objective for the remainder of the program. The title was secure, but the meeting still carried importance for the silver and bronze positions and for the home riders seeking a landmark victory at the championship’s first event outside Europe.

Argentina controlled the track

Local riders used their familiarity with the Totoras oval to lead much of the program. Matias Lorenzato, winner of Saturday’s TT-format round, opened Sunday strongly. Coduri, Gerónimo Castelli, Juan Martín Viganoni, Sebastian Verdoia, Matias Emanuel Frey and Maximiliano Varas all contributed heat wins or front-running performances. The breadth of that challenge mattered: it was not a single guest rider finding speed, but a deep Argentine contingent disrupting the established European championship order.

A dramatic Final changes the winner

Lorenzato led the twelve-lap Final and appeared positioned to repeat Saturday’s victory. Coduri moved into second by lap five, but Lorenzato retained a clear advantage until sliding off on lap nine. Coduri inherited the lead and held it to the flag ahead of Varas, Viganoni and Frey. Bell finished sixth, Bailo eighth and Neave twelfth, his lowest score of the season. The finishing order did not threaten Neave’s crown because he had already completed the mathematical task in the heats.

Bell protects silver

The remaining championship tension centered on Bell and Bailo. Bell started with a fifteen-point cushion over the Spaniard and strengthened his position by winning a heat while Bailo finished fourth in the same block. Bailo advanced through the Last Chance Heat, but Bell’s sixth-place Final result, two positions ahead of Bailo, preserved second in the standings. That gave Britain the top two championship positions, with Bailo completing the medal order.

A pivotal season for Ducati off-road

Neave raced for VRX Power Maxed Dirt Store Ducati on a Desmo450 MX-based flat-track machine. The title gives Ducati a major result during the expansion of its off-road program. Ducati UK had confirmed the team’s Desmo450 MX entry before the season, extending the motocross platform into flat track. The championship adds an international title to that project’s first season in the series.

Why the Argentina finale matters

The 2026 championship was the longest in the series’ sixteen-year history and ended with its first rounds outside Europe. Hosting consecutive TT and oval events at Totoras exposed the regular field to unfamiliar riders, conditions and travel demands. Argentina responded with victories for Lorenzato and Coduri. Even though the world title went to Britain, the two home winners demonstrated the competitive depth available outside the championship’s traditional European venues.

Consistency carried the campaign

Neave’s worst result arrived only after the title was safe. Across the preceding rounds, he built his advantage through repeated front-running finishes rather than relying on a single decisive weekend. That consistency left him with only one point to find on Sunday, even as local specialists changed the competitive order at Totoras. A season championship rewards the rider who manages different circuits, weather, formats and competitive threats across the full calendar.

A British champion and two Argentine winners

Neave ends the season with the world title, ahead of Bell and Bailo in the medal order. Argentina’s final weekend produced a different winner in each format, with Lorenzato taking Saturday’s TT round and Coduri winning Sunday’s oval event. The combination gives the championship two distinct achievements to celebrate: its first British world champion and a debut trip outside Europe that ended with local riders winning both rounds.
